Mini Budget-Friendly Boots Haul!

Friday, September 25, 2015

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! Delighted I have no college on Fridays this year. Every weekend is a long weekend now!

Anyways, I was in Boots a while ago, (and this morning actually... I love giving them all of my money) and I picked up a few budget-friendly things:

I've been hearing great things about the Boots Botanics range lately, especially the Radiance Balm, so I decided to buy it and give it a go. I also got their Radiance Concentrate Serum.

I LOVE the Radiance Balm. I've been wearing it under my foundation since I bought it, and it just makes your skin glow. You can put extra on areas like your cheeks to give a glowing, highlighted effect under your foundation. I think it looks great!
I also really liked the Serum. It left my skin looking really bright without makeup, and its really moisturising too.
Get the radiance balm here. (€7.99)
Unfortunately I can't find the serum on Boots' website but, I was in the Waterford store this morning and I saw it on the shelf and I think it's around €6.

Lately, I've been more of a lipstick girl, but, I thought I'd buy this Rimmel Oh My Gloss lipgloss because I really like the colour and it says that it lasts six hours. I got it in the colour number '130 Purrr... Glossy Cat' (weird name):

I actually really like this! The colour looks great on and it makes your lips really soft thanks to the argan oil in it. I wouldn't say that it lasts the full 6 hours that it promises, but it still does last long. Being a lipgloss, it is quite sticky and my hair got caught in it a few times, but, I like the colour and the look of it so I don't really mind.
You can buy it here. (€6.99)

I've been looking for a really good shimmery highlighter for nighttime makeup for a while now, and after reading SoSueMe's review of the Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick, I knew I had to get it and try it out!

This is fabulous! I got it in the colour 'Pink Bronze', so it's kind of like a bronzer and a blush all in one. It's so shimmery, I love it! It's actually the perfect highlighter for a night out. It makes your skin look so dewey and healthy. I use it on my cheeks above my cheekbones and on my temples. LOVE IT!
Buy it here. Seriously you won't regret it, it's only €6.99!!!

I also got two of the new Rimmel London Kate Moss nude lipsticks at the same time and you can read my review on them here and buy them here. (€6.99)

Boots have so many fab offers at the moment both in store and online on makeup and skincare so absolutely check them out!

New Horizons...

Monday, September 21, 2015

Hey guys!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Tomorrow is an exciting day for me! I'm starting my new college course! I graduated from the University of Limerick in August with a B.A. in New Media and English, and tomorrow I'll be starting a Higher Diploma in Television Production with Waterford Institute of Technology in conjunction with Nemeton TV!

© Nemeton TV
The course is taught through Irish, which I'm really excited about. So the real title of the course is Árd Dioplóma i Léiriú Teilifíse.

I love Irish. I went to a Gaelscoil (an Irish speaking school) when I was young so I'm pretty fluent.

The course takes place in WIT and in the Nemeton TV studios in An Rinn, Dungarvan. (An Rinn is the Gaeltacht in Waterford.)

Nemeton make a great variety of television shows through the medium of Irish, including shows like GAA and Rugbaí Beo for TG4.

I'm really looking forward to working in a telvision studio environment, and throughout the year we will be given loads of opportunities to gain experience and even the chance to enter something into the Celtic Media Festival which is being held in Dungarvan in April next year! I'll be learning about every step of the television production process; from script writing to camera work, directing to editing.

So yes, excited is an understatement!

Wish me luck!!!

Rimmel London X Kate Moss Nude Lipstick Collection Review!!!

Thursday, September 17, 2015

Hey guys!

Hope you're having a nice day! It was so sunny today, summer is still hanging on!

Today I'm going to talk about two new lipsticks I got last week, which I've been trying out:
Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss: Nude Collection in colours 40 and 45.

There's been so much hype surrounding these lipsticks that whenever I went into Boots in Waterford City, they were out of stock. I've been looking for them for ages and I finally got my hands on them in Boots in Dundrum Town Centre.

I love the Kate Moss Lipsticks, I already had three before I bought these, so I was expecting them to be great. The Kate lipsticks that I have last a long time, their colour is so vibrant, and they have a really nice fragrance.

I love nude lipsticks and I've been searching for the perfect shade for ages. Good news: I think I've found it x2!

*** WARNING Shameless Selfies Ahead***

I took this one inside so you could see what it looks like indoors... This looks like a passport pic... Soz...

I love this one! It's such a pretty, pinky nude, exactly what I was looking for!

I paired this lipstick with a light brown smoky eye using the Urban Decay Naked palette, which you can get here.

Accidentally smushed this one a bit...

This shade is darker than #40 although, the closeup pics don't do the colour justice; it's definitely a little darker in real life.
I think I prefer this one as it is more natural looking, but at the same time, because it is a darker tone, its great for a night out, teamed with a smoky eye, eyeliner and a bit of highlighter and contouring on the cheeks.
When I put on this shade, #45, I vamped up the eyeshadow, adding in some purple tones from Urban Decay's Naked 2, which you can purchase it here.

Verdict:  8/10

I really liked these lipsticks, and I'm definitely going to buy more shades from the collection.

The shades I picked are kind of shimmery in some lights, compared to the absolute matte finish of Kate's earlier lipsticks, but they still have a lovely matte finish.

The colours are so strong which is fabulous.

They're very creamy and they really moisturise your lips.

They lost points because although they do last long, the older Kate lipsticks last longer, and they're a bit heavy if you don't use a brush to apply.

I'm loving nudes at the moment, but as winter progresses, I'll probably use more darker shades, as nudes can be quite summery.

But for now, I'll probably be wearing these all the time! New favourite lipsticks!!!

You can get them in most Boots stores and online here.

I got a few (ok a lot) more things in Boots while I was in Dundrum, so I'll post a haul in the next day or two!

Taylor Swift: Queen of Instagram

Thursday, September 10, 2015

Step aside Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian West, there's a new Instagram Queen in town!

Once upon a time Bey was the Queen, then Kim stole the crown. Now its Taylor's turn.

Source: zimbio

These past few days Kim and Taylor have been neck and neck in the race to the top of the Insta ladder.

Buuuut...

It's now official: Taylor Swift is the most followed person on Instagram!!!

Taylor currently has 45.8m followers on the photo sharing app, compared to Kim Kardashian's 45.6m.

Taylor has yet to comment on her new status of Instagram top dog, but I'm sure Kim isn't too happy about this turn of events...

Source: Perez Hilton

Taylor is definitely one of my favourite artists. I love her latest album 1989, and I went to see her in concert last June in Dublin, and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!
My favourite song from 1989 is definitely 'Wildest Dreams.' It's just so dreamy and romantic! She released the music video just before the VMAs and I LOVE IT!!!! I think it perfectly captures the song. Plus Taylor looks fab as a brunette!!

All hail Queen Tay!!!

ECOTOOLS Brushes Review

Wednesday, September 09, 2015

Hi guys!

So, it's been a few days since my last post. I've been really busy with work and sorting out my new college course, so, I haven't found the time until now. I've somehow managed to bust my ankle (NO IDEA HOW... VERY ANNOYING) so I'm home sick from work today and tomorrow. Silver lining - I get to blog!

Today's blog will be all about my favourite makeup brushes: ECOTOOLS.

(C) Aoife Doyle FairlyFabulousBlog 2015

I first discovered ECOTOOLS a few years ago when I was looking for a new eyeshadow brush and I haven't looked back since really! The brushes are so soft and luxurious feeling and they work so well not to mention they look fabulous: love the rose gold metal details. The long bamboo handle, makes it really easy to apply your makeup as you can actually see what you're doing.

I actually love these brushes and I've yet to find better ones!

I've bought mine in Boots and TKMaxx.

These are all of my ECOTOOLS: (I have quite a few...)

(C) Aoife Doyle FairlyFabulousBlog 2015

How cute is the packaging?!
(C) Aoife Doyle FairlyFabulousBlog 2015

Their brushes are all made with recycled materials making them super eco-friendly! They come in a little "eco pouch", so when you buy these brushes you're doing a little something for the environment!

So far I have six of their brushes, but I'll probably purchase more!

I'll do individual reviews on these brushes in the coming weeks cause they'd take up way to much room in one post!

You can buy them online from boots.ie here. Prices aren't higher than €15 in Boots (even cheaper in TKMaxx) so they're very affordable! A bargain! They even do little sets which would make a perfect gift... to yourself!

Check out ECOTOOLS' website here!

Happy Shopping!!!

Keeping up with Kylie

Thursday, September 03, 2015

Hey guys!

Happy Thursday! It's nearly the weekend, I can't wait!

I've been thinking of dyeing my hair again. I had balayage done a while ago and it's kind of faded so I'm thinking that it's time to do something new.

Speaking of changing my hair, Kylie Jenner has revealed the reason for all the wigs she has been sporting! Posting a selfie to Instagram yesterday, the KUWTK starlet unveiled her new look:

source: kyliejenner

She was waiting for her hair to hair to recover from previous styling, so that she could do this. I think it's fairly fabulous!!!

It's very similar to the wig she wore to her 18th birthday celebrations (the one where she got a Ferrari from her boyf... Jealous). Aaaaaand it's very like the hair colour older sister, Khloe Kardashian, has been flaunting lately:

source: khloekardashian

In fact, Ms Kylie has kind of been stealing Khloe's style lately. Khloe wore the above dress to Kylie's 18th in LA and she looked absolutely #FLAWLESSSS.
A few weeks later, Kylie was spotted wearing a very similar dress, also by Balmain, although it was a bit more daring, to a VMAs afterparty:

source: kyliejenner

(She's holding onto that dress for dear life :-P)

I don't know how Khloe feels about her lil sis copying her, but you know what they say: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! First the dress, then the hair; Khloe must feel pretty flattered! ;-)

They both look fab. I wish I was brave enough to go blonde, but I really don't think it would suit me. Actually it'd probably look awful!!!

P.S. It's so weird being envious of this 18 year old... and so strange that she's the same age as my youngest sister...

Thanks for reading!!!
