Nailed it! Review of Kayley's Beauty Corner at Root 66, Waterford

Saturday, October 17, 2015

I'm pretty new to getting my nails done, as in really new. Up until a month ago I'd never even had so much as a manicure!
I'd been debating for a while whether or not to get gel nails and I finally decided to take the plunge and just do it. I was fed up with my nail polish chipping and my nails breaking ALL THE TIME!

I'd liked this page a few months ago called Kayley's Beauty Corner at Root 66 it's run by a lovely girl called Kayley Goss.

I'd seen that loads of my Facebook friends were liking pics of the nails she'd done and I thought they were fab! They looked so glam. The reviews section on her page gave her 5 stars out of 5, so when it came to choosing where to go to get my nails done, it was an easy choice!

Kayley is located at Root 66, 41 Mayor's Walk in Waterford City. She's really nice and it's really easy to talk to her. No awkward silences!

These are the nails she did for me the first time:

It was pretty safe to say that I was in love with these! I got so many compliments from people! My favourite colour has to be pink, so these were a dream. I love them and they lasted for 4 weeks until my nails had grown too much and I needed to get refills.

These were only €30 including design, which is a great price for professional gel nails.

When I went in yesterday, I thought it was time for a change. We're well into autumn now so I decided I'd need a darker colour than the pink of last time.

Kayley has such a wide selection of colours, so there's lots of choice for every taste.

I'd seen posts on her page about colour-changing polish, so I asked about them when I went in. These are really cool polishes that change colour when your hands are cold or warm.

I got a polish that changed from deep burgundy when my hands are cold to a bright red when they're warm:

This is when my hands are cold.
I love this colour! It's so rich and deep; perfect for Autumn/Winter!

Love the ombré effect you can get from these!
(excuse the claw-hand!)

'Cause the tips of my nails aren't touching the warmth of my fingers they keep going like this. Like a twist on a french manicure. (BTW the black triangle and nail are supposed to stay black!) (more claw hand...)

And this is what they look like when my hands are toasty warm! They're so shiny! I love the glitter in them!

And to make things even better, refills are only €20!

Here's Kayley's business card.

And here's the price list. (Sorry for the crappy pic!) So affordable!!! Kayley also offers brow waxing and brow and lash tinting.

Anyone looking to get their nails done in Waterford should definitely go to Kayley Goss! She's so professional and its amazing how successful her business is at such a young age!

You can book an appointment through her Facebook page Kayley's Beauty Corner at Root 66 or on 0862230467. Be sure to book in advance because she's very busy!

5 Stars all the way!

Now I just have to decide what to get done next time!

October Wish List

Sunday, October 11, 2015

So, I think I'm going to do a monthly wish list of the things I want (need) that month, and this is going to be my first one!

I'm saving for a car at the moment so I can't splash the cash, but a girl can dream right?!

Every month I'll let you guys know what I'm lusting after, how much it is and where you can get it!

So here it is: my October wish list!

I made this ^ cute right?

Over €100

I've actually wanted these kind of Nikes for aaaages! I just can't justify buying them; they're too expensive!
I probably wouldn't even wear these for exercise (if I ever actually exercised...) cause they'd look great everyday with leggings or skinny jeans!

One of the great things about Nike is that they allow you to customise your items, and I did just that with these! You can change the colour, fabric and more!

These are €145 and you can get them (and customise them!) here.

Under €100

New season, new scent! I have so many perfumes already, but there's always room for one more! Lola by Marc Jacobs smells amazing but it's pretty pricey at €82.55 for 100ml. But this is a Wish List after all!

You can get it in most pharmacys as well as Debenhams.

Under €75

Autumn has definitely arrived and with the weather changing every five minutes, what better way to stay warm and fashionable than with a fab sleeveless coat!

I love, love, love this!!! It's from River Island. I think I might need it! It's perfect for Autumn's changeable weather as you can layer it over a long-sleeved top to keep warm.

This gorgeous sleeveless coat is €70 and you can buy it here.

Under €50

I love handbags, and I'm a firm believer that a girl can never have too many! This one from Bershka is faaaab!!! It's made from 100% leather with great fringe detail and a luxurious Baroque floral detail.

It can be yours for €39.99 and you can find it here.

Under €25

I recently discovered this fab Irish jewellery company Covet Mimi, on Instagram. They're a new company, and Irish which is great! All of their pieces are so cute and absolutely on trend.

I love these fab little storm cloud pendants they posted on their Instagram today. Aren't they just sooo cute!! I want them in both silver and gold! At only €15 each they are super affordable!

I might just have to get myself one of these!!!

I don't think Covet Mimi have a website yet, but you can order from them directly off their Facebook or their Instagram.

So that's my wishlist for October! Writing this post has made me want all of these things even more. I can already hear my bank account crying!

Have a great Sunday!

Autumn Hair Trends For Brunettes

Friday, October 09, 2015

Hey guys!

Anyone else get bored with their hair around this time of year? I certainly do. I had balayage in my hair, but now that it's faded and my hair needs a refresh. My only problem... I don't know what I want to do!

I don't know whether or not to go down the Ombré/Balayage route again, or go back full brunette, or maybe even go Bronde! Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Every season brings with it a rake of new "on-trend" hairstyles, and here are some of the pictures of different hair colours and styles that I've been pouring over for the last few weeks, trying to make a decision. These would be suitable for girls with darker hair like me.

1. Ombré/Balayage

I'm really, seriously thinking about going with Ombré again. But if I do, this time I'll definitely go with a darker, more Autumn/Winter appropriate look.

I really like these Ombré/Balayages, and although some people think Ombré is for summer, these darker Ombrés are fab for the colder months to come!

I have pretty long hair, which I love and I think ombré looks really well in long hair, but, as Kylie Jenner proves; Ombré can look FAB on short haired gals too!
I love her hair in that pic, but I'd never cut my hair that short in a million years! I'd miss my hair too much!!

2.  Multi-Dimensional Brunette

Another way I'm thinking of going is back to my natural brunette all over.

I love Shay Mitchell's hair, it always looks perfect!
A lot of people I know have gone back to brunette recently. Maybe I'll jump on the bandwagon! I'd definitely go for a multi-dimensional brunette as opposed to single processed brunette, though as I think the single process can look a bit flat in my opinion.

3. Bronde

The Bronde (Brunette-Blonde) trend is very popular with celebs these days. I'm not really sure if I'd go for it, as I'd be afraid that it would damage my hair, but I do really like it!

Bronde is kind of the next step up from Ombré. I think it looks faaaab. Really pretty!

I think I'm leaning towards going back to full brunette... but saying that, I change my mind on an hourly basis! I'm going to the hairdressers next week so I guess I'll have to make my mind up before then! Maybe I'll be feeling adventurous and go Bronde!!!

Wish me luck!
