Nivea Eye Make-up Remover Review

Sunday, December 27, 2015

Hey guys!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas! I think I've eaten my weight in sweets and ham and stuffing, so needless to say mine was great!!

I know that I've been very quiet this month, but with college, work and Christmas I've been very busy, so forgive me!!! I was even working Christmas Day and Stephen's Day! Heartbreaking!

Anyways, on to this post!

Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover Review

I've been using this product for years and I couldn't reccommend it enough as an eye make-up remover! It removes every last bit of make-up from your eyes, including waterproof make-up.

I received another bottle of this fab stuff at the #DeiseBloggers event in November and I was delighted when I saw it in my goodiebag!

I actually wouldn't use any other eye make-up remover products - I haven't come accross any that are as effective as the Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover.

They have recently redesigned the bottle which I'm very happy about! The cap on the old one was a bit dodgy, and although it never leaked, I was afraid that it would because it didn't look like it was closed properly. The new design is a screw-top. So yeah! More peace of mind that the product won't leak all over my bag!

This is a 'Double Effect' eye make-up remover. Basically this means that there are two different components to the remover. The blue colour that you see floating on top is an oil - this is the part that removes the make-up. It's actually so effective; it leaves nothing behind.

Now, I've found that it actually does leave a slightly oily residue, but it's easy to get rid of. One wipe with a clean cotton pad and it's gone.

This product is Dermatologically and Ophthalmologically approved, so, no sore, stingy eyes!

This is the old bottle design. You can see in this picture what I meant when I said that it looked like the bottle wasn't closed properly. I used to hate leaving it in my bag if I was going somewhere overnight! I was so afraid that it would leak everywhere and turn everything blue!

The old and the new bottle shapes! They both contain the same volume of product (125ml)!

This product is really great, and you don't only have to use it on eye make-up. Stubborn make-up that refuses to come off even if you scrub it with wipes, cleansers, miceller water? This will wipe it away with ease!

I was wearing the one of the Rimmel Provocalips lipsticks one day, and when I say that these lipsticks last all day and are pretty hard to remove, I'm not kidding!

I was scrubbing away at my lips with some Garnier Micellar Water (see my review here!) on a cosmetic cotton pad but it was making no difference, and I was just hurting myself. Then I had the bright idea to use the Nivea Eye Make-up Remover, and the lipstick came off in one swipe. I was amazed. I felt like I'd discovered a secret!

So, would I reccommend the NIVEA Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover? Absolutely!

As you can see, the PROS clearly outweigh the CONS!

4.5 STARS!!!

I'm docking a half a star, simply because of the oily residue left after using the product; but otherwise, this product is great!

You can get this fab product in most pharmacies including Boots.

It's so inexpensive for such an effective product!

At only €4.99 in Boots it's hard to go wrong!

You can get it here.

Thanks for reading girlies! Let me know if you try this out!

The Christmas Tag 2015

Friday, December 04, 2015

Happy December guys!!!!!!

When the 1st of December finally rolls around it really starts to feel like Christmas. From the festive songs on the radio to the Christmas festival Winterval inside in Waterford City; it all really gets me into the Christmassy spirit!

So, the lovely Lisa from Cuddles and Contouring has tagged me on Facebook to do this Christmas tag, so here goes!

Source: HiberniaCollegeDublin.com

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?

There are three movies that I HAVE to watch every year and they are:

Elf
The Grinch
The Santa Clause

Source: society6

Source: movienight youtube
It's not Christmas if I haven't watched these two or three times over Christmas and New Years!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Christmas Day of course!!!!!! There's nothing better than going to bed on Christmas Eve knowing that you have a pile of Christmas presents waiting to be opened the next morning! When I was younger I knew that some people got to open a present on Christmas Eve, and I tried to convince my Mom that we should do that too, but nope Christmas morning is for opening presents she always said, and I must say I agree!!!

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Yes! I remember being in the kitchen of my old house with my parents and younger sisters on Christmas Eve. My mom, I think was cooking mince pies or something and my dad, my sisters and I were singing 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' at the top of our lungs and doing actions to it. This was back when I was about 6 or 7 so Santa was still very real (not that he isn't! He totally is!) and I just remember this feeling of the absolute magic of the night. I could feel it in my tummy! I was so excited! And I was convinced that I saw Santa's sleigh going across the sky and that I could hear sleighbells and hear the reindeers hooves on our roof, so my sisters and I ran up to bed as fast as we could cause Dad told us that if Santa knew we were awake he wouldn't stop at our house!

I also remember putting out milk and biscuits for Santa ( we had a special Christmas basket for the biscuits) and a few carrots for the reindeer.

Christmas used to be so magical when I was a kid. I miss that!

4. Favourite Christmas food?

I have two favourites! Without these it wouldn't be Christmas! Stuffing and honey-glazed ham with cloves stuck all over it. All day, every day. Christmas dinner is by far my favourite dinner of the year! You couldn't bate it with a stick!

Source: dishmaps

5. Favourite Christmas gift

Christmas 2012 I got a Kindle Paperwhite from my parents. I had wanted one for ages and I was delighted when I was given one for Christmas that year! It was the perfect present for me; I'm a total bookworm. Whst made it even better was that I was going to Spain for 4 months for a semester of work experience for college, followed by a semester of Erasmus (study abroad) in the beautiful Malta. Before getting the Kindle, I was actually sincerely worried about how I was going to get a load of books to fit into my suitcase along with ALL of my clothes. So yeah! A Kindle was the absolute perfect present to receive and I was delighted that I could bring my library (especially the Harry Potter books!) around in my pocket on my travels!

6. Favourite Christmas scent

The smell of Christmas dinner cooking! Knowing that in a few short hours you'll be so full and satisfied that you can't move, falling asleep in front of the television. There's nothing like it!

Source: mirror
^ This is my every year about an hour after Christmas Dinner.

7. Have you any Christmas Eve traditions

We always go to mass on Christmas Eve and to the Christmas carols beforehand in St Joesph's and Benildus in Waterford City. They sing nearly the exact same carols every year and their little script hasn't changed in years, so my sisters and I can nearly recite along with them almost word for word! It's so cheesy.

Then when we come home from mass we open a tin of Roses, turn off all the lights, except those on the Christmas tree, and light all the candles in the room. Magical!

8. What tops your tree?

Well we always have two trees in our house; a fancy pretty one and a messy tinsel explosion. The fancy one in the dining room that you can see in the front window, has a massive light up star on it, and the one in the kitchen, (the one that looks like the aftermath of an explosion in a tinsel and bauble explosion), is topped by a Santa!

Here's a couple of pictures of our trees from a couple of years ago: (Sorry for the bad quality!)

© Aoife Doyle 2015
^ This was before we got the massive star. You can barely see the small old one!

© Aoife Doyle 2015
^ See what I mean by tinsel explosion!!!

9. As a kid, what was the one extravagant gift you asked for, but never got?

When I was writing up my list, before the time of easy internet access, (remember dial-up?), I always used the toy section in the Argos catalogue to pick out my list. One year, I can't remember hold old I was, I remember getting to the Barbie pages. Well, I wanted everything! I painstakingly wrote out the catalogue numbers, exact names and page numbers for each thing. Barbie's Dreamhouses, cars, sets and of course a few Barbie's to go along with it. I saw nothing wrong with all this! Sure the elves make it, so it's all free! Anyways, I think I got two barbies (among other things), a red convertable (so cool!!!) and the massive Barbie Dreamhouse I wanted, buuuut, it was our 'sharing present' for me and my sisters.

Another thing I asked for but never got was snow! It was at the top of my list every year but Santa never delivered!

Source: ebay
^ This is the exact car I got!!! I think it's still in the attic somewhere!

10. What's the best part of Christmas for you?

The best part of Christmas for me, definitely has to be family. I love being around my close family and extended family around Christmastime. It's such a family time in our house. I just love piling into the sitting room to watch a Christmassy movie with my parents and sisters. Feet up, Roses out, can of Coke in had, fire roaring and in my Christmas onsie (as I write this I'm in said onsie. Yay Christmas!).

I loved writing this post, so thanks again to Lisa from Cuddles and Contouring for tagging me in this! Be sure to check out her blog!

I'm going to tag....

Ciara from Ciara Noelle
Rachael from Rachsbeautique
Shannon from Makeup By Shannon

Make sure to tag me when you've finished writing so I can read your posts!!!

November Wish List!!!

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun!!!

It's exactly one month to Christmas Eve today, so exciting!!!

I'm going to save my Christmas Wish List for next month a bit nearer to Santa's arrival :)

Here's a few things I'm dying to get my hands on this month...

Over €100

Harvey Norman

Apple iMac 27"
Price: €1942

Ok so this is waaaaaay over €100 but still. I want /need one!
As some of you may know I'm doing a Post Grad course in TV Production at the moment, and we're learning how to edit using Final Cut Pro X which is all on Mac. So, I'll probably need to get one at some stage in the future.

But they're so expensive, it's scary!!!

If you want to buy me one you can get it here. ; )

Under €100

River Island

Green Sequin Bodycon Dress - River Island
Price: €87

How fab is this dress?! I love it! This would be the perfect dress for a Christmassy night out! I love the dark green colour and sequins are a must for the festive season.

The shoulders are kind of padded I think so that gives it great structure and it's got a cute scooped back which is fab.

I love dresses like these with sleeves that end just above the elbow. They're really flattering.

I might need to pop into River Island and splash the cash on this one... or just wait for the sales!

You can get this beautiful dress here.

Under €75
Inglot

Ingot's Limited Edition Christmas Palette
Price: €75

I want this sooooo much! It's soooo fab!

I love all the colours, and they're perfect for winter. I love a good brownish smokey eye so this palette is just perfect!

At €75 its a bit steep for me... I might have to twist Santa's arm for this one!

I just love it though!

You can get it in Inglot stores or online here.

Under €50

Alex and Ani - kilkennyshop.com

Alex and Ani August Peridot Birthstone Russian Gold
Price: €36

I've wanted an Alex and Ani bracelet for ages! I really like this one. I think it's really pretty.

I was born in August and I really like my birthstone, the lovely green peridot. It's just a really pretty colour and you don't really see it very often.

I also love the way the Alex and Ani bracelets are all about positive energy.

I might buy it for myself as a little present as its not really that expensive!

You can get it online here.

Under €25

Glitz n' Pieces

iPhone 5/5s/5c Princess Phone Cover
Price: €12.50

How cute is this phone case?! I love the way that Snow White is holding the apple. It's just like the movie!
I have an iPhone 5c and it's kind of hard to find nice cases for it as most places only stock 5 and 5s cases, so when I came across this cutie from Glitz n' Pieces I had to have it! It's sold out though!!! So sad! Hopefully it'll be back in stock soon cause I'll definitely be buying it!

You can have a look at it on Glitz n' Pieces website here.

So yep! That's it for my wish list this month. Hopefully a few of these things will magically appear in my house over the next few weeks... Won't be getting my hopes up though!

Have a fabulous week everybody!

Micellar Water. . . More like Miracle Water!

Thursday, November 12, 2015

Hey guys!

So sorry that the blog has been so quiet over the last few weeks! College got really busy with assignments and work experience really suddenly, and I've had zero time to do anything blog-wise other than posting the odd photo to Instagram or Facebook.

Speaking of Instagram and Facebook, you can follow me here:

Anyways on to this post...

Garnier Micellar Water

I'd heard so much about the Garnier Micellar Water range, that I'd decided to try it out for myself.

Before purchasing this product, I always used to just use wipes to take off my makeup. I know how bad that is and soooo many people told me to stop using wipes, but I guess I was just being lazy and too tired to make an effort!

© Aoife Doyle 2015
But ever since I bought the Garnier Micellar Water, I've been using it every night!
I got the one with the pink label for sensitive skin (there's 3 different types).

© Aoife Doyle 2015

I actually love this stuff! It gets every speck of makeup off my face. I feel so fresh after using it.

All you have to do is dab a little onto one of those round cosmetic pads and wipe it over your face.
It usually only takes me 2-3 of those tiny pads and all of my makeup is off! Magic!

It says on the bottle that it'll last up to 200 uses, and I believe it! I've ony had it for a month and a bit and there's only a quater of the bottle gone!

© Aoife Doyle 2015
I got these cotton cosmetic pads in Penneys the other day and they're great. They do the job and BONUS: they're only 75 cents! #BARGAIN

I feel like my skin has really cleared up since I began using the Miceller Water. I can really see the difference in my pores.

The Garnier Micellar Water is hypoallergenic and you can use it to take off eye makeup and lipstick.

Here, have a poser-y pic of me using it:

But yeah, 5 stars all the way!

I got the Garnier Micellar Water in Boots using one of their 3 for 2 deals, I think there's another one of those deals on a the moment!
You can get the Garnier Micellar Water from Boots here. (It's reduced to €4.53 online right now!)
And like I said, the cosmetic pads are €0.75 from Penneys/Primark.

I'm converted! This is definitely one of my new essentials! Never going back to makeup wipes!!!

Let me know if you get the Micellar Water!

Have a lovely day!

Nailed it! Review of Kayley's Beauty Corner at Root 66, Waterford

Saturday, October 17, 2015

I'm pretty new to getting my nails done, as in really new. Up until a month ago I'd never even had so much as a manicure!
I'd been debating for a while whether or not to get gel nails and I finally decided to take the plunge and just do it. I was fed up with my nail polish chipping and my nails breaking ALL THE TIME!

© Aoife Doyle 2015 (I made this!)

I'd liked this page a few months ago called Kayley's Beauty Corner at Root 66 it's run by a lovely girl called Kayley Goss.

Source: Facebook

I'd seen that loads of my Facebook friends were liking pics of the nails she'd done and I thought they were fab! They looked so glam. The reviews section on her page gave her 5 stars out of 5, so when it came to choosing where to go to get my nails done, it was an easy choice!

Kayley is located at Root 66, 41 Mayor's Walk in Waterford City. She's really nice and it's really easy to talk to her. No awkward silences!

These are the nails she did for me the first time:

© Aoife Doyle 2015

It was pretty safe to say that I was in love with these! I got so many compliments from people! My favourite colour has to be pink, so these were a dream. I love them and they lasted for 4 weeks until my nails had grown too much and I needed to get refills.

These were only €30 including design, which is a great price for professional gel nails.

When I went in yesterday, I thought it was time for a change. We're well into autumn now so I decided I'd need a darker colour than the pink of last time.

Kayley has such a wide selection of colours, so there's lots of choice for every taste.

I'd seen posts on her page about colour-changing polish, so I asked about them when I went in. These are really cool polishes that change colour when your hands are cold or warm.

I got a polish that changed from deep burgundy when my hands are cold to a bright red when they're warm:

© Aoife Doyle 2015
This is when my hands are cold.
I love this colour! It's so rich and deep; perfect for Autumn/Winter!

© Aoife Doyle 2015

Love the ombré effect you can get from these!
(excuse the claw-hand!)

© Aoife Doyle 2015
'Cause the tips of my nails aren't touching the warmth of my fingers they keep going like this. Like a twist on a french manicure. (BTW the black triangle and nail are supposed to stay black!) (more claw hand...)

© Aoife Doyle 2015
And this is what they look like when my hands are toasty warm! They're so shiny! I love the glitter in them!

And to make things even better, refills are only €20!

© Aoife Doyle 2015

Here's Kayley's business card.

© Aoife Doyle

© Aoife Doyle 2015
And here's the price list. (Sorry for the crappy pic!) So affordable!!! Kayley also offers brow waxing and brow and lash tinting.

Anyone looking to get their nails done in Waterford should definitely go to Kayley Goss! She's so professional and its amazing how successful her business is at such a young age!

You can book an appointment through her Facebook page Kayley's Beauty Corner at Root 66 or on 0862230467. Be sure to book in advance because she's very busy!
© Aoife Doyle 2015 (Made this! I'm such an artist :P)
5 Stars all the way!

Now I just have to decide what to get done next time!
